Experienced Hosts
EXPERIENCED LODGE HOSTS are available for encouraging dialogue with guests. RAPHA Lodge is not designed to be a professional counseling center, but is designed to be a place where grieving persons can freely share their pain and grief in heartfelt dialogue without fear of judgment and condemnation. The on-site hosts of RAPHA Lodge, Ken and Shanon Gross, have over thirty-five years of experience with grieving families that have enabled them to come alongside those who have lost children or other significant family members, offering them unconditional love, encouraging words of faith and hope from their own loss experience. This interaction is not required, but is solely at the discretion of the guests, and is only designed to aid grieving persons in their healing and restoration journey. Ken has received specialized training in traumatic grief counseling from Dr. Joanne Cacciatore, associate professor at Arizona State University, one of the most acclaimed educators in traumatic grief counseling. He has been accredited by the Miss Foundation of Austin, Texas, as a compassionate bereavement care® certified provider. Shanon has been professionally trained in bed and breakfast management, and has many years of experience in hosting overnight guests.

I’m extremely grateful for RAPHA Lodge. My stay there helped me to heal during a hard time. It was refreshing being able to get away and focus on restoration.

I’m not sure RAPHA Lodge will ever truly know the impact that they had on me and my family. When I lost my parents, I was able to heal in a healthy and safe environment.
